Maya Lysinger, or "Miss Maya", was born in Chesapeake, VA, and raised in Virginia Beach, VA (shoutout to the 757!). Though she only took ballet for a week at age 4, she eventually found her passion in Musical Theatre.

As a kid, Maya dabbled in everything from Girl Scouts and Tae Kwon Do to Piano and Tennis. But at 8 years old, she played Cha-Cha in GREASE, and never looked back.

The COVID-19 pandemic pushed Maya to pursue performing professionally. Inspired by her late Haitian grandfather, Jacques Borges, she worked hard despite her high school lacking a Musical Theatre program. She majored in Voice and Theatre, competing statewide in One Act Play and Choir, while training in classical voice and performing in straight-plays. Getting into her dream school, Shenandoah Conservatory, was just the beginning.​​

Offstage, Maya treasures her alone time by strengthening her Spanish language skills,  journaling, adding and listening to her vinyl record collection, baking, gardening, spending time with family, and babysitting her nephew, Braxton. She also loves binge-watching longer TV series like ABC's Grey's Anatomy, where she has watched all 22 seasons. Occasionally, she enjoys a night out, exploring the nightlife with her closest friends.

On top of everything, Maya pursues her passions as a professional makeup artist, box office associate/usher at Shenandoah, hip hop teacher for kids, and part-time Spanish tutor.
